Flash Orchestra is an experimental project directed by artist, Felecia Chizuko Carlisle and developed in collaboration with a group of Electronic Media students at New World School of the Arts in Miami, Fl. Participants design and produce unique digital sound instruments that are played in unison from laptop computers. The sounds are accompanied by visualizations in the form of animated geometric abstractions that are projected against the architectures they inhabit. Both sound and image transform these spaces creating temporary environmental installations that are both sculptural and experiential. This project further explores the genre of “soundscape” as a thematic subject for art.
